First Random Sketches of 2012/New Studio Rants and Raves

First sketches of 2012 are up! We were so busy messing up our new studio
that I realized I haven't even sketched anything for my "1000 sketches in 2012" project.
And I have to come up with an even more interesting title since the current one isn't even remotely so.

I just realized that just now since I don't get that much silence since we moved in here. It's the same thing
with sleep. I get woken up evey day by noisy people scurrying up and down the road and even though the room where we sleep in is pretty distanced from it with the lawn and all that, their voices feel like it refuses to be ignored. It's getting pretty crazy.

With that said, I think I like it here. People sleep and wake up early. It's like a
place that still hasn't been tainted with pollution and modern day things like that. The
kids still play in the streets and everybody knows everybody. Hell, they
even know we're the dudes who moved in 2 blocks away from them. Sure people disturb my
sleep at 8 in the friggin morning but maybe waking up early isn't so bad. Maybe this place
will remove some bad habits of mine with it's infectious country lifestyle. Or
maybe I just need more sleep.

Anyway, here's another one I did as a warm up today:

Whoever he is, he sure is one fugly motherfucker.

Later!

100 Sketches!

I had a grand time with this project, plus I learned a lot of neat stuff. My aim was to have a hundred quick sketch sessions in a span of 90 days.

It started last November 2011, those days were just a frenzy of sketching. Things slowed down in December due to animation commissions and me just losing steam. But as with all things art, I knew the passion will come again so I just kept it for a while. Sure enough, my itch for sketching came back this January and now here it is, random things I drew for the past 3 months.

Next stop would be a thousand sketch sessions for one year!

12-week sketchaholic day 5

New sketch of the day! Can't believe I'm 5 days into this thing and
showing improvements already. Right now I'm focusing more
in curves and caricaturing the face. I just noticed the mullet guy's
right arm is distorted. Oh well, they're just sketches anyway.

Didja like em?

12-week sketchaholic day 3

Well technically this is day 4 as I've been busy with other stuff lately. Thankfully, I managed to sneak a sketch today. Ten minutes is really not enough for drawing time. Got to compensate tomorrow. That's it for now gang, tootles!

Y'all have a great one!

12-week sketchaholic day 2

Yes! Day two is here and I'm still pumped up on sketching! I was planning to do this later but my excitement got the best of me. I was particularly happy with the first sketch as I've nailed down the expression pretty well. The dog is kinda meh but I'll take it. Never sketched animals before. Now I find them exciting cause they do a lot of weird expressions. It's like they're humans.

Without the opposable thumbs of course.

12-week sketchaholic day 1

Earlier today I got sketchbook pro and decided to play with it instead of doing work. I gotta say I am really impressed with it. I used to do morning sketches on photoshop and have gotten tired of it's general heavy feel. It's like you're sketching with a time lapse, but no problems like that on Sketchbook pro. I can even do wide, loose strokes with ease.

With that said, today, I'd be starting a 12 month sketching program. I used to do solely animation work everyday with no sketching which is not a generally good idea. My animation poses became stiff and mechanical so I hope to get rid of that by sketching and improving on my character design skills.

Courage and growing beyond proportions

So finally, after eons of planning an awesome blog and imagining how it will greatly improve my network + skills, I just realized I would just keep putting it off until everything is perfect, which will never happen of course.

So I decided "whattaheck!" and just started one.

Everything you will see in here are works in progress. You may find a tip or two in drawing or life in general. Sit back, relax and enjoy the view. You may wanna press the "follow" button too if you have the time.

Thanks for visiting my blog and keep rockin life!
